The student chapters were developed primarily for the role in the development of criminal justice practitioners and to give them access to professional resources.

During their mentorship, they are given the ability to network at the annual conference and training institutes, learning more about criminal justice organizations and other opportunities that are available.

The Student Council is fashioned after the President's Council involving them in decision-making, growing their self and community awareness, and allowing the acceptance of their own personal and professional development.
